MICHELLE BUCKOWSKI
Michelle Buckowski is in her third year at Holy Family, and her eleventh year teaching in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. She is deeply committed to Catholic education and is an alumnae of local Catholic schools. Before coming to HFHSCP, she taught English at St. Dominic School and Social Studies at Immaculate Heart High School, then served on the IHHS Administrative Council. Ms. Buckowski earned Bachelor of Arts degrees in History and Political Theory from UC San Diego in 2001, with minors in Literature/Writing and Cognitive Science. She is passionate about the study of cognition, learning, and memory acquisition, and uses these skills to inform her teaching and empower her students to develop their own study skills. She went on to earn a Master of Arts degree in Print Journalism from USC in 2004 and a Master of Science degree in Secondary Education from Mount St. Mary’s College in 2008. Ms. Buckowski holds California State Teaching Credentials in both Social Science and English, and trained with the College Board in order to teach four Advanced Placement courses: AP US History, AP US Government, AP English Literature, and AP English Language. She is currently serving as Humanities Department Chair and Director of WCEA/WASC Accreditation. Ms. Buckowski is also the Junior Class lead moderator and the adviser for Art Club, Book Club, and Speech Club.
