On the Application Process
How do I apply to Holy Family High School College Preparatory?
The first step is to submit an application, with a $75.00 fee. The application can be found online or you may pick one up in the Admissions Office. The second step is to have your child’s current school submit the required online letters of recommendation from your child’s English and Math/Science teachers.
For upcoming ninth graders, you must also mail transcripts from 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. You may take the Entrance Examination at Holy Family High School College Preparatory. If you choose to not test at HFHSCP, you may forward your scores from another Catholic high school.
Where can I receive Admissions information / application?
Applications are available online and at HFHSCP. You can also call the Director of Admissions for more information at (818)241-3178 x226.
Can I visit the campus?
Interested applicants and their parents are invited to attend our Open House on Saturday, December 5th, from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. There is also a Friend’s Day event in which applicants are encouraged to visit the school. The event requires permission from the Principal and a Parent/ Guardian. You may also call the Director of Admissions at (818) 241-3178 x 226 to schedule an appointment for a campus tour.
On Tuition and Fees
What are the tuition and fees at HFHSCP?
Tuition and fees for the 2010-2011 school year are as follows…
Tuition:
- $7,100 (six period base tuition)
- $7,700 (seven period base tuition)
- $8,200 (eight period base tuition)
Registration: $450
Activities:
- $200 (Freshman)
- $200 (Sophomore)
- $300 (Junior)
- $640 (Senior)
Book rental Deposit: $400
Participation Fee (this fee can be added to your monthly tuition): $600
Is Financial Aid available?
There are two forms of Financial Aid available. The first type is PSAS and the application for PSAS is found online at psas.org. The school code is 1879. The deadline for PSAS is March 1st, 2010. The second form of Financial Aid is through the CEF (Catholic Education Foundation). The deadline for CEF is January 30, 2010. More information on CEF and PSAS can be found in the Admissions Office.
Are scholarships available?
Various scholarships exist to award academic achievement and help qualified students who have financial needs. Merit scholarships are awarded at entrance and are based on recommendations, transcripts, and test scores. A student who ranks first in her graduating class or places among the top 2% of applicants receives a renewable scholarship. Scholarships include the Gaels Merit, Board of Regents, Kiwanis, Aspinwall, Primavera, Alumnae, and Passick Scholarships.
On the Entrance Exam
Do I need to pre-register for the entrance examination?
No, you do not need to pre-register for the exam. Once you have submitted your application to the Admissions Office, you are automatically registered for the exam on Saturday, January 30, 2010, from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. You will receive a post card in the mail to remind you of the exam date and time.
What is the entrance examination?
HFHSCP uses the High School Placement Test (HSPT), produced by the Scholastic Testing Service. The exam consists of: Verbal Skills, Cognitive Skills, Reading Comprehension, Vocabulary, Math Concepts, Math Problem Solving, and Language Grammar Skills. There is also a personal essay that will be written after the exam.
