Our 9th Grade experience is designed to ensure a gentle, supportive, and graceful transition to high school life.
Our 9th grade curriculum lays the foundation for college-preparatory learning and individual growth, with emphasis on writing, critical thinking, and creativity. All 9th graders take English*, Math**, Theology, Modern Language (French or Spanish), one arts course (visual art, choral, dance, instrumental music or theatre).
Academic and College Guidance: Individual meetings and Freshman Counseling Night
*HSPT scores and Essay will determine the English placement.
**HSPT scores and transcripts will determine the Math placement.
After about a month of adjusting to their new classes and schedule, 9th Graders can actively explore all co-curricular and leadership opportunities. Beginning with ASB Club Fair, freshman may sign up for clubs that match their talents and interests. In mid-September, Freshman class elections take place.
Freshman Twilight Retreat
The 9th grade retreat takes place the second week of school, as we believe it is important for freshman to immediately begin their spiritual journey with their new sisters. Led by the Campus Ministry team, Freshman Twilight retreat helps our girls understand the importance of friendship in their lives - both friendship with their classmates and friendship with God.
Journal of Caring
The Freshman begin their spiritual journey caring for their grade school. They will chronicle their 20 hours spent giving back to their elementary teachers and grade school brothers and sisters.
